With Epic California Snowfall, Will Indie Film Stars in 'NECROSIS' Really Have to Eat Each Other to Survive Their Shoot in Lake Tahoe?
Camarillo, CA (PRWEB) January 8, 2008 -- Unknown Productions Incorporated goes into production on the Independent Psychological Horror film, Necrosis, with a diverse cast including 1980's Pop Icon Tiffany, James Kyson Lee (NBC Heroes) and George Stults (7th Heaven). Also slated is Horror Movie Icon Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes) and character actor Mickey Jones (Penny Dreadful).
The Necrosis story ironically follows a group of friends at an isolated cabin in the Sierra Nevada Mountains who become trapped by an epic snowstorm. Writers, Robert Michael Ryan and Jason Stephens, wanted heavy snowfall and it looks like they got it. Their story explores an interesting premise on the history of the famous Donner Party Tragedy of 1846. Their theory suggests that when the early pioneers heading west to California turned to cannibalism for survival, that immorality cursed their spirits to the mountain. Those spirits awaken with the present-day storm and begin driving the desperate group of friends into madness. Necrosis plays out an obvious horror/ghost story twist on history.
Filming mainly on-location, Necrosis doesn't have the "studio" money for snow machines and high end special effects so they are relying on Mother Nature ... and she has answered their requests for snow this winter.
Director Jason Stephens has commented that the Necrosis Production team has asked for many favors to get this project off of the ground. Locals from the Lake Tahoe area as well as businesses have agreed to help out, including the Sorensen's Resort in Hope Valley, Lake Tahoe Adventures and the Harrah's Hotel Casino. "There's a lot of people out there pitching in to make this project a reality."
Unknown Productions has taken risks that seem to have paid off. "We don't have the kind of money to wait for this type of weather. We picked some dates and hoped for the best. If we were filming this movie last year, it wouldn't have looked anything like it will now. After we are finished and have thawed out, I know we'll all have a big smile on our face."
